SOWN 1983 |
Zong was the highest
priced weanling sold at public auction in North America in 2005. He sold for $1,700,000 at the Keenland Fall Sale to Aaron & Maria Jones, owners of
champions Speightstown and Ashado.
RACE RECORD
Zong was injured in his
only start at Belmont Park after he dwelt at the start. He spotted the field 10 lengths and rallied
to catch up to the field to finish sixth.
He earned an excellent Ragozin (the sheets)
figure of 11, which is the average winning number of a MSW winner at Belmont
Park.
STUD ANALYSIS
2010 will be Zong’s first year at stud.
He is the son of leading sire, Unbridle’s
Song, a sire of 30 stakes horses in 2009, out of a Storm Cat mare, Zing, who
sold at auction for $3.6 million in 2005.
Zong is full brother to
Half Ours – a $6.1 million dollar yearling – and a record setting graded stakes
winner. He won the Grade 2 Richter Scale
Sprint Championship Handicap setting fractions of 21 3/5 and 43 3/5. He is now at stud.
His two other full
brothers sold for $2.6 million and $1.15 million as yearlings.
